5 Tips For Healthy Skin
Your skin is one of the biggest indicators of your health. When you're healthy and happy your skin radiates with a healthy glow, while stress and sickness can cause breakouts, dark circles, and dullness. Sticking to a consistent skincare routine can help deal with skincare issues, but it's a good idea to get to the root of any problems. Healthy eating, exercise, getting good sleep, and practicing mindfulness can all help - and it will show in your skin!
5 tips for maintaining healthy, glowing skin
1. Use sunscreen daily
This is a no-brainer - there's nothing more ageing than the sun! Apply a high factor (SPF30+) broad-spectrum (UVA & UVB) sunscreen to your face, neck, and exposed areas every day. Work it into your skincare routine to make it a habit.
2. Keep your skin moisturised
This isn't just important for people with dry skin - even if you have acne or oily skin you should moisturise your skin - there are formulations available for every skin type.
3. Get enough sleep
Sleep deprivation can increase the look of wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles in addition to many health concerns such as obesity, diabetes, and cancer. When you sleep your body works to repair and regenerate your skin, so get your 7-9 hours per night for optimum skin health.
4. Eat healthy
What you eat is as important as the products you put on your skin. Sugar, alcohol, refined carbs, and saturated fat wreak havoc with your health and your skin. Try to eat a clean, healthy diet as much as possible with plenty of vegetables and fruits, keeping the bad stuff for an occasional treat.
5. Stay hydrated
Hydrating your body leads to plumper, brighter skin - water is particularly good for you. Avoid soft drinks, alcohol, and caffeine as much as possible. If you don't like plain water, try adding a slice of lemon or cucumber, a handful of berries or a sprig of mint, or try carbonating it if you like a bit of fizz.
